Pepsi’s plan for world dominance took a huge step forward with the announcement of the Pepsi Phone. The soda company is licensing their brand to Chinese company Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. which will be responsible for the manufacturing of the phones. The phone comes in two options: the P1 and the P1S. They are currently only available on JD Finance, a crowd-funding website.
The phone can be purchased for $157 USD until 1,000 units are sold. Then the price will rise to $204 until the funding period ends on December 3rd, 2015. The company hopes to reach their goal of 3,000,000 yuan which is roughly just under $470,00 USD. The phone will support 4G, 4G LTE connectivity and duals SIM support. It has a 16 gb hard drive, 2 gb of RAM, a 1.7GHz processor and a 3,000 milliamp-hour battery.
The phones run on the Anroid 5.1 Lolipop operating system. It has a 5.5 inch 1080p display, 2.5D glass and a dual camera, 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the back. You can choose between three colors: gold, silver and blue of course. These are just the first of the Pepsi branded mobile phones and accessories that will be released in China. First there was Pepsi-flavored Cheetos (yes those really exist) and now there’s a Pepsi phone. What will they think of next?
